Old Mill Falls, New York

Lucifer Falls is the main attraction at Robert H. Treman State Park, but the park features several other waterfalls. Enfield Falls, located downstream on the opposite side of the park, is likely the next most notable. Old Mill Falls is probably the least visited, though it’s the easiest to reach.

The western entrance provides access to both Lucifer Falls and the historic Old Mill, which you can enter and explore. From the mill, follow the sound of water to reach Old Mill Falls. At 15 feet tall, it’s modest but typical of many waterfalls in New York.

Before visiting, check if the park is open—it’s generally accessible in summer and fall. Trails to Lucifer Falls may be closed from winter through late April or early May, though Old Mill Falls may still be accessible during the off-season.

Directions:

  1. From Ithaca, head south on NY-13 (or NY-13A). NY-13A merges into NY-13, so you’ll connect to NY-13 anyway.
  2. After 3 miles or so, there will be a right turn onto NY-327/Enfield Falls Rd.
  3. Take NY-327/Enfield Falls Road 2.5 miles to the Upper (second) entrance. You’ll have to take a sharp left turn to enter the park.
  4. Drive down to the parking lot. The Old Mill is off in a corner of the parking lot. There is no trail to the falls, as there is no hike required.

Accessibility: 10/10 (easy)
