Aunt Sarah’s Falls, New York

Aunt Sarah’s Falls in May 2009

Aunt Sarah’s Falls, while right of the road, is apparently very easy to miss, at least from certain directions. As we were driving south on NY-14 from Watkins Glen to Montour Falls, I missed the falls. Only when driving out did I actually notice that there was a falls.

During the spring, there are other falls that cascade down the cliffs along the western side of NY-14. I have pictures of three of them, and I’m guessing that they probably dry up during the summer.

Directions:

  1. Aunt Sarah’s Falls is a roadside waterfall, directly off of NY-14 just as you are entering the village of Montour Falls (coming from Watkins Glen). There is a roadside park on the opposite side of the road with a sign indicating that this is Aunt Sarah’s Falls.

Accessibility: 10/10 (easy)
Height: 90′ (visible portion)
Length of Hike: Roadside
