Sheldon Reynolds Falls in May 2009
Sheldon Reynolds Falls is one of the 20+ waterfalls of interest in Ricketts Glen State Park. It can be found on the Falls Trail after the creeks meet at Waters Meet.
Ricketts Glen is a great place for waterfalls, but there are a few cautions.
*The hike didn’t seem as hard as I was expecting it to be, but it is still at least 4 miles round trip. You are climbing down into a gorge. To get out, you have to go back up, which means some steep areas. Still, the steep areas are more manageable than I expected since they are punctuated by more level parts of the trail.
*Wear hiking shoes with a grip and keep your hands free in case you trip (wear a backpack).
Directions:
- From your starting point, get to the area around Red Rock, PA.
- Turn onto PA-487, heading north. Go to the entrance to Ricketts Glen and turn right into the entrance.
- Follow the signs to the Falls Trail. You can access the Falls Trail using the Lake Rose parking area or Beach Lot #2 parking area, though you’ll be starting on different creeks. Start your hike on the loop by connecting into the Falls Trail.
Accessibility: 5/10 (moderate)
Height: 36′
