Annie Falls wasn’t a waterfall that popped into my head right away, but I do remember it. In August 2013, I had the chance to visit Crater Lake National Park. It’s one of my favorite national parks, if I had to choose one or two. I loved that I could stay at the inn right at the rim of the crater and that it was so peaceful at night there.
There are a number of other waterfalls in the park, Vidae Falls and Plaikni Falls, for example, that are more impressive, but I counted Annie Falls because it’s listed on a map somewhere! The issue with Annie Falls is that it might be more impressive if you could get closer to the drops. The view is from Crater Lake Highway/OR-62 and you’re standing above the falls, which are not terribly far away but still a few hundred feet away and downhill. There is a parking area to view the falls, but the trees block some of the view, as you’ll be able to see from the photo I’ve included. It’s a very easy waterfall to visit if you’re in Crater Lake National Park, but if this were transported elsewhere and were more difficult to access, I probably wouldn’t spend much time searching for it to achieve this view of the falls.
Directions:
- There is a Rim Drive around Crater Lake. Crater Lake Highway/OR-62 is on the south side of Crater Lake.
- At the intersection of Munson Valley Road and Crater Lake Highway/OR-62, head south on Crater Lake Highway for 4-5 miles. Annie Falls and the parking area will be on the left side (the river side) if you’re headed south.
