The Record

For those looking for a bit of adventure near Parowan and Brian Head, Utah, the hike to Hidden Haven Falls (also known as Benson Creek Falls) offers a unique and rewarding experience. Before you go, a useful tip: Google Maps incorrectly places the parking area for the trail. The actual starting point is a few hundred feet further south at the designated “Parowan Canyon Wildlife Area Hidden Haven Trailhead.” Once you’ve found the right spot, you’re ready for a hike that is anything but ordinary and offers a cool respite from the desert heat.

The hike begins with a short walk along the road before crossing a bridge and joining a path that runs alongside a creek. This first part of the trail is fairly standard, but the real fun begins in the final third of the journey. To reach the waterfall, you leave the dirt path behind and begin hiking directly up the creek bed itself. When we visited in August 2025, the water flow was quite low, making the trek through the water and over the rocks straightforward and enjoyable. This immersive part of the hike is what truly sets it apart.

Given that the final approach is through the water, this hike is best attempted in the late spring and summer months when water levels are generally manageable and the temperatures are warm. The payoff is a lovely, secluded waterfall tucked away in a small canyon. Hidden Haven Falls is a fun excursion for anyone seeking waterfalls in an otherwise dry Southern Utah. Be sure to wear shoes you don’t mind getting wet!
