The Record
Located along winding US-64 between the larger cascades of Cullasaja Falls to the north and Bridal Veil and Dry Falls to the south, Quarry Falls, also known as the comical Bust Your Butt Falls, is a small waterfall in Cullasaja River Gorge. While it lacks the sheer scale or drama of its neighbors, it’s easily accessibility. Quarry Falls is a 15′ rock slide that empties into a deep pool, making it a high-traffic destination for swimmers and sunbathers rather than just dedicated sightseers.
Since this is a true roadside attraction, you won’t have to worry about a hike, though you should keep an eye out for the large paved pull-offs located on both the eastbound and westbound shoulders of Highway 64. There is usually plenty of room to park, though it can get crowded during the peak of summer when the “swimming hole” vibe is in full swing. It isn’t necessarily a waterfall you’d make a special trip for, but given that it’s right on the way to the bigger names in the area, it’s a worthwhile three-minute stop to stretch your legs and see the “butt-busting” rocks for yourself.
