The Record
As I was driving back toward Chattanooga from DeSoto State Park, I saw this waterfall out of the corner of my eye. I wasn’t exactly sure where I was at that moment…GPS and navigation weren’t as robust as they are now.
There must have been parking (even if makeshift), which isn’t always the case with smaller waterfalls. This is a smaller set of cascades in the town of Valley Head in Alabama. I was heading east and had noticed that there was a cascade just off the road. I pulled off and took a few pictures. It was getting late, so there wasn’t much light to take a picture. Even so, it was still a pretty stop.
Directions
- I believe this waterfall is on AL-117, just west of the intersection with US-11. There should be a park in that general vicinity. If you’re heading toward DeSoto State Park from US-59, you may end up passing by the falls.
